The most normal of the gay bars in Metro Detroit. This little bar has a very west coast lounge feel. Delicious and cheap drinks mixed with gays and straights enjoying the same space. DO NOT miss this place. Especially on Saturday nights when the hottest MI girls come out to play. Want to feel even more local? While there ask if anything is going on at Q Bar down the street. Rumor is both trendy bars have the same owner.

Every lesbian in the Detroit area has been to Stilettos. Saturday is the night. The bar is 18 and up so it draws a younger crowd, but don't let that detour you, girls. It is truly the place to go to get an inside look at a cross section of Michigan women. Warning: Not a great neighborhood and the police ticket cars parked on the street after midnight so valet all the way.

This restaurant has been open for years and the food is still great. We've had many yummy dishes that have lingered long in memory. The most mainstream gay bar in Metro Detroit is usually always crowded with gay men. However, if you're jonesing for some gayness this place draws a pretty steady older crowd every night.

Rainbow Room

Detroit's home to drag queen and drag king contests. This predominately lesbian bar is also in a pretty sketchy neighborhood. If they have valet, use it. Truly an eclectic mix of people stop by this little hole in the wall. Always good for people watching, go with friends because it's not a big pick-up joint.

Como's

This restaurant is definitely hit or miss when it comes to the gay scene, but the deep dish pizza is a Midwest favorite. Sometimes it's filled with gay men and lesbians. Other times you feel like you've walked into a family pizzeria complete with screaming children. Solution: The bar area is removed from the restaurant and is a nice place to escape.

Menjo's

Warning: This bar is in the ghe-tto!!!! Be sure to park your car with one of the attendants — and we recommend leaving a very generous tip before you leave your vehicle. Infamous College Night Thursday is the night to go. Packed with mostly a young gay male crowd, this bar has it all. A jammin, dance floor, outdoor patio. A hit place to be seen and get your groove on.

A cool place for dinner or drinks especially in the summer. Usually it's a laidback place where friends meet to drink and play pool, but it's super-small. 50 people is a lot in this tiny two-level bar.
